Art Science and Metal Arts
ART SCIENCE Molecular Material Science of Art – MOLART -developed over the last decade at the FOM Institute for Atomic and Molecular Physics in Amsterdam.
The Molart (1995-2001) and De Mayerne Program (2002-2006) supported by the Dutch Science Foundation NWO were master-minded to support research into aspects of aging of paint and paintings.
The team of researchers produced a large body of information that we intend to present here and make available as downloads and blogs.
A main result of our efforts has been the realization that paintings are not static but slowly changing material objects. Pictures change because the paintings are chemically and physically reactive systems that respond to the environment. Sometimes an intervention leads to a catastrophic change in internal conditions.
More understanding of these slow and fast changes is imperative for the safe keeping of our cultural heritage.
METAL ARTS
My metal Arts and Jewelry is another side of my creative efforts that I want to share on this site.
Human adornment is fascinating. From nice sea shells, colored features or colorful beans to precious stones set in gold or even tattoos and scars, people want to decorate themselves.
My interest is to create beauty using the age old craft of metal smithing and playing with stones and glass. Part of my work is presented on the site. You can order similar or newly designed work.
